Ombre 3 Drawer Vintage Grey Dresser

I have been having a few interests and requests for dressers to be transformed for wee little ones on the way. I had a few dressers in stock but none seemed to fit the bill. So when I picked up this little gem I had grand nursery oriented visions for her. I had kinda a grey/pink salmon combo in mind and when I started the grey turned out to look almost white. I toyed with about 6 different sets of knobs and could not figure out why she was being so complicated to me. And then a stroke of genius- what new technique could I give a shot- OMBRE. I happen to think waiting to find out the sex is one of those last little secrets that you can get to keep until the last minute- so a neutral colored nursery dresser makes complete sense to me. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't have to end up finding its home in a nursery, but that was how I ended up staging her.

And then you couldn't imagine the responses I got, assuming this was how we were announcing our own 'little adventure.'  Unfortunately, I think that could have be one of the most fitting ways for us to announce, but low and behold we are not!  I love the little features to her, the backsplash, the mini caster wheels, the subtle stripes the keyholes!

Chevron Black and Gold Dresser

Picked this little gem up and wanted to add a little extra class and pizazz. After sanding her down, I taped off the sides and liked the raw wood color to paint chevron. I loved the original knobs and so wanted to try and maintain them and work around their style. The top 2 drawers were lined with a unique print paper. I really like the size and think it would be really sweet in a little boy's bedroom or to don a corner room and display your gold trimmed fancy bar necessities. 

Black and Gold Classy Dresser

Refinished antique 4 drawer dresser. Lovely and delicate but not too feminine legs and the subtle trim between the drawers. She comes with four varying sized drawers to store your clothes and goodies. This was sanded down and painted black and distressed just ever so subtly to see the wood barely wear through. Unique gold knobs from Anthropologie that compliment the classic gold keyholes on each drawer.

It's been awhile. Finally getting somewhat settled and finding myself a new 'workshop' to create in.  Came across this gem in my old neighborhood and already had a customer in mind with a specific room/look they were going for. The detail in the wood etching on the front drawers adds a charm that compliments those fancy legs and casterwheels.  I kept the original hardware on there because I thought it grounded the distressed look a bit.

Sailor Blue Side Table

I had recently found this Blue Milk Paint to be so subtle and rich and therefore was pretty excited to give an old vintage side table a fresh start.  This gem sat in the basement for what seems like the longest time waiting for the perfect knob.  I could have brought home a course of 7 different options, just sure it would be a smashing hit.  And each seemed to incompatible in some measure.

Finally 3 lovely Anthropologie painted knobs found their home on her drawer fronts.

Little Stately Chic Bedside Table

Refinished antique side table. I picked this little guy up and knew a client that was looking for a pair of bedside tables.  I had finished a similar one in white and went ahead and gambled to make this a set.  Nevertheless, people will surprise you and keep you on your toes.  She ended up not going with the pair, so I switched out the knobs to make this little one distinct.  I favor the stately element of that brass to balance the delicate that the rest of her struts!

This had to be part of an old vanity dating back to the early to mid-1900's. Lovely and delicate legs and the sweetest of trim on the bottom and detail on the drawers. She comes with three drawers to store your nighttime necessities. This was sanded down and painted a grey/white wash and distressed to give her a well loved and worn coat as you can see the wood wear through. Unique knobs from Anthropologie with brass/gold undertones that give her a stately class.

Bebe Changing Station

This was a custom piece done for some friends expecting twins in the next 2 months! It will be the changing table once the additional little padding accompanies the top! I believe this was an old family dresser and I can assuredly tell you she has seen layers upon layers of different season all with a different little coat.  She required an extra dose of patience and an additional tub of stripper.  But I quite love that simple grey milk paint wash and the subtle details that keep it still somewhat masculine for those 2 new beaus! Welcome to the world little ones.  Change is inevitable, embrace it as it comes ;)

Freedom Blue Dresser

 

In lieu of the impending holiday, the name seemed fitting.  I have been itching to try out a new color and found a good opportunity to do such.  I recently met a woman who sells milk paint more locally here in Denver (I had been driving up to Boulder to pick the paint up).  Anyhow, I hope this supports her little local shop Casa Verde even just a bit!  They specialize in superior green building products; 'where every color is green.'  Anyhow, I branched out of my normal muted colors and tried for a BLUE. I had picked up these knobs a bit back and thought the blue would really contrast beautifully with the gold/brass. 

The name of the color is "Solider Blue" and I think it possesses a fitting sheen and stature, living up to the name! Quite a regal color paired with new subtle gold/brass knobs from Anthropologie. Per usual I adore the golden keyholes and that the top 2 drawers have an understated curve to give her a little extra character.

Breakfast/Kitchen EAT Table for 4

Our landlord happens to have a similar niche for collecting old things.  He had this table and chairs down in our basement for quite sometime.  I also collected the 2 stools and had them saved for a rainy day to work on.  I had been low on inventory to work on and remembered there was a little table downstairs and thought to add the stools as a seating combo.  I had been wanting to try out a few new techniques; both taping to create a lettering stencil and the dip-dye method. Each item is all wood and I love the varying of colors the dye picked up in the different grains of wood.  Great little set for a cozy small spaced nook.

Bonjour Buffet

What a prize to find! You'd have thought I had won a contest when I snatched this little treasure up! I kept grinning all day, dreaming up the possibilities of her outcome. The detail and shape to her are simply exquisite and dear. I originally planned to just shoot for the two toned white shabby finished product, but after applying this coat of paint, I realized she needed just a hint of color.  I love the muted grey with green undertones.  I kept most of the original hardware and cleaned her off with a good coat of poly.

Stately Vintage Desk

This was an old lawyers desk that someone had tried to spruce up with a little can of spray paint.  I was happy to envision a new face that begs for a philosopher to pull up a chair, breathe in the scent of an old library book, and muse upon explorations yet to be discovered. 

One of the many perks of this piece is the spacious drawer storage.  On the left is a hidden double drawer that can function as a file cabinet.  The back is finished as well so as to offer the option of pulling that desk out from against a wall.  The three paneled leather top is still in tact, with a little of the silver paint residue, which I quite like to give it a well loved look.  All wood, the trim on the top gives it a little extra pizazz.  I painted it a two toned grey and washed it with a dark walnut stain wax.  Completed with original brass pulls this is a unique timeless desk.

New dresser with glass knobs has already found a home!  I wanted to shoot for a 2 toned dresser that would somehow make the drawers pop! The cream and grey is a favorite color choice these days.  It maintains a subtle shabby chic look, but the stained grey drawers bring out the rusticity of the wood.

Vintage Chic Dresser

This dresser sat on my porch for months longer than necessary.  Made of real wood, all her parts were heavier than they ever appeared to be.  I spent months avoiding her because of a good deal of structural issues she posed.  Finally, it became time to man up and do something.  Either I get rid of her as is or I do something with her.  It is not often that I would simply give up on a project, not that easily at least.  So I did a bit of surgery and gave her a few coats of a face lift, added some flare of sassy glass knobs, and rescrewed those little ivory-esque key holes back on her and she was ready to head back into the world, a confident (abeit heavy) lady.
I'm thrilled to have given her that second chance. Go get em'.
